UC Riverside’s 19th Annual Noche Cultural Scheduled for Jan. 19, 2013
UCR's Chicano Student Programs hosting family-friendly evening of music and dance
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano, a driving force in the mariachi tradition for more than 50 years, will headline the 19th Annual Noche Cultural at the University of California, Riverside on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at the University Theatre. The event is hosted by UCR’s Chicano Student Programs office.
Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano is a Grammy-award winning group from Los Angeles. Through their music they have continued to raise the mariachi tradition to new heights, with an ever-growing following of listeners and admirers.
Also performing will be Ballet Folklórico de El Salvador with a performance representing the various regions of El Salvador. The group will share dances based on the customs and traditions, in their efforts to further preserve and promote their cultural heritage.
The local familia Los Romero will be making their 19th appearance will their own very special renditions of romantic ballads. A staple at the event, their presence represents a rich history of music sharing and storytelling.
Admission is $12 general / $10 students. Parking is $5 per car in Lot 6. Directional signs on campus lead to the theatre. Due to limited seating, advance ticket purchase is recommended.
