California Insurance Commissioner Meeting with UC Riverside Leaders Thursday

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — Key leaders at the University of California, Riverside will hear an update from California’s Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones Thursday, Feb. 28 on important issues in the insurance industry relevant to the work of the University.

As head of the California Department of Insurance, Dave Jones ensures that consumers are protected and that the regulatory process is equitable.

Along with learning about UCR School of Medicine’s education model and impact to the regional medical industry, Insurance Commissioner Jones and Vice Chancellor of Health Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine G. Richard Olds will discuss healthcare reform and other developments impacting California’s insurance industry.

Dean Reza Abbaschian will facilitate a meeting with campus vice chancellors and deans to provide an overview UCR’s achievements. Topics will include innovations in the green vehicle industry and technology that relates to medicine. UCR School of Public Policy Dean Anil Deolalikar will talk about the role that UCR’s School of Public Policy will play in California policy development.

The meetings are a collaboration of the University of California, Riverside and the Greater Riverside Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
