Primavera in the Gardens brings restaurants, wineries and breweries to the UC Riverside Botanic Gardens

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — The 15th annual Primavera in the Gardens wine and food tasting event at the University of California, Riverside Botanic Gardens will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. May 19.

This year’s event will take place during the 50thanniversary of the gardens. Proceeds from the event benefit the botanic gardens’ program that hosts thousands of touring school children. More than 400 people attended the event in 2012.

Tickets to the fund raiser are $60 per person when purchased in advance purchase and $70 when bought at the gate. Advance tickets can be purchased using a credit card online or by check. Only cash and checks will be accepted for tickets bought at the gate.

Appetizers will be served by restaurants and caterers including Anchos Southwest Grill & Bar, Antone’s Italian Food, Brewcakes, Cafe Sevilla, Gram’s Mission Barbeque Palace, Jammin’ Bread, Magnone Trattoria & Market, Mario’s Place, Mazz Bar & Grill, Simple Simon’s, Smokey Canyon BBQ, Table for Two, Tin Lizzies and UC Riverside Dining Services.

Wines will be proffered by regional vineyards and wineries including Babcock Winery and Vineyards, Callaway Vineyard and Winery, Winery at Canyon Crest, Chris Kern’s Forgotten Grapes, Dark Star Cellars, Falkner Winery, Galleano Winery, Hart Winery, Maurice Car’rie Winery, Van Roekel Winery, Monte De Oro Winery, Mosby Winery, Oak Mountain Winery, PRP Wines International and White Oak Winery and Vineyards.

Participating breweries include BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Inland Empire Brewing Company and Ritual Brewing Company.

In addition, there will be a silent auction, featuring dozens of garden-related items. And Benjamin Diaz and Incendio will provide live music.

Or, a check for $60 per ticket made payable to UCR Foundation can be sent to Primavera, Botanic Gardens, University of California, Riverside, CA 92521-0124. For orders received by May 15, tickets will be mailed. For orders received after that date, tickets will be held at will call at the gardens entrance.

The Botanic Gardens cover nearly 40 acres and feature more than 3500 plant species from around the world. Every year, we host some 50,000 visitors, including school children. Everybody enjoys the beautiful vistas and numerous scenic pathways, some gently graded for wheelchair access.
