RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) – After 12 years working at UC Riverside, Emily Engelschall has been named Director of Undergraduate Admissions.

“This is a critically important position for the campus and Emily has been doing a remarkable job in the interim role,” said LaRae Lundgren, associate vice chancellor for enrollment management. “I look forward to seeing her continue to thrive.”

Engelschall will oversee functions within undergraduate admissions, including recruitment, marketing to prospective students, campus tours, processing and evaluation of 42,000 applications (freshmen, transfer, and international).

“This is UCR’s own watershed moment,” Engelschall said. “I feel truly honored to be given the opportunity to lead the Undergraduate Admissions office during this most critical and meaningful moment in our history. Faculty, staff and students fortunate enough to be a part of the UCR family decades from now will look back with great admiration for what those of us here today have been able to accomplish.”

She said her goals include increasing connections with counselors at the high school and community college level; expanding outreach to transfer students; working with the faculty to refine the admissions criteria; and continuing to work collaboratively with the campus to increase international diversity at the undergraduate level.

In her time at UCR, she has collaborated closely with the undergraduate colleges and their respective faculty when developing and implementing admissions procedures. She also works closely with committees of the Academic Senate related to admissions. She serves on a Strategic Admissions Task Force for the UC system and the ApplyUC Advisory Committee.

Engelschall holds a bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University in political science with a minor in youth and human service.  She has worked in a variety of positions, all related to recruiting students.
