Math Educator Available to Talk about Sally Ride
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — Pamela Clute, a math educator for more than 40 years and the assistant vice chancellor of educational and community engagement at the University of California, Riverside, is available to talk about Sally Ride and her importance as a female scientist. Clute had these words to say about Ride:
“Most remember Sally Ride as a pioneering astronaut and as a plasma physicist of distinction. I remember her as a “shero” to thousands of young girls across the country who NOW believe they can achieve in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Her passion crossed paths with mine numerous times when she came to UC Riverside and we reached out to 1500 plus middle school girls, empowering them with confidence and stimulating their passion for learning science and mathematics.”
Clute can be reached on her cell phone, (951) 536-4843, or via e-mail at pamela.clute@ucr.edu.
