RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — About two-dozen students from the University of California, Riverside’s School of Business Administration volunteered with Habitat for Humanity’s “Helping Hands Program” painting a home at a mobile home park in Riverside on August 3.
The group was led by Sean Jasso, a lecturer in management at the School of Business Administration.
“This provides the students an opportunity to give their time and talent to help low-income families refurbish their homes,” Jasso said. “Students earn service hours with Habitat for Humanity, enjoy the camaraderie of their friends and make a difference in the lives of their neighbors.”
Since the volunteer program with Habitat for Humanity began in May 2011, 154 School of Business Administration students have logged nearly 800 volunteer hours and have painted and refurbished 12 homes in the Riverside community.
Jasso leads the group each quarter and the next service opportunity will be in November.
