What is RSS?

A Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed is an XML-based format for sharing and distributing web content. It is a web page that is meant to be read by a computer, rather than a person. Subscribing to an RSS feed allows you to track regularly updated content on a website without going through the site itself. You can access the latest news headlines, events and videos in one place, as soon as they are published.

How do I use RSS?

An RSS/news feed reader (also called an aggregator) will enable you to subscribe to and display RSS feeds. There are various RSS readers on many different platforms and devices. Readers can be downloaded for free or purchased. Web browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Chrome, allow you to subscribe to an RSS feed as a favorite or bookmark folder. Flipboard is a popular reader on the iPad. Pulse is available for Android devices. And there are many others.
