Tyga, Porter Robinson and Awolnation to Headline HEAT 2013

UCR students excited about annual music festival

UCR students took to social media in droves when rapper Tyga leaked that he would be appearing at HEAT 2013 on March 2.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — The usual secrecy behind the lineup for the seventh annual HEAT Music Festival at UC Riverside suffered a slight crack when rapper Tyga let slip on his website in mid-January that he would be performing at the show on March 2, 2013. But that little leak did nothing to diminish the buzz around the show when the full lineup, including popular DJ and producer Porter Robinson was announced on Feb. 6 and electronic rock band Awolnation.

“Best lineup ever,” posted student Marisela Yanez to the HEAT Facebook page, while student Sebastian Palomino wrote “Heat, you did very well this year. I am proud. THANK YOU!!!”

Student Affairs Officer Kent Endsley said that Tyga’s announcement turned out to be a benefit for the show, as it brought a couple of weeks more attention to the show.

“We confirmed Tyga’s appearance, but kept the rest of the lineup under wraps until our regular announcement,” Endsley said. “The mystery surrounding the concert is part of the fun.”
