UCR Students to Hold Candlelight Vigil Wednesday for Victims of Isla Vista Attacks

Memorial to begin at 8 p.m. at UCR Bell Tower

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The students of the University of California, Riverside will hold a candlelight vigil at the center of the Riverside campus at 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, in memory of the victims of Friday’s attacks in Isla Vista, near the campus of UC Santa Barbara.

The vigil is open to everyone who wishes to participate. Candles will be provided.

Organizers are asking attendees to arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 p.m. Free parking for off-campus guests will be available in Lot 24, next to the UCR Track. Parking permit holders may park in any available lot.

The vigil will begin at the UCR Bell Tower and will include a walk around the campus starting at 8:15 p.m. Upon returning to the Bell Tower, speakers from Associated Students of UCR and the UCR Graduate Student Association, as well as UCR Chancellor Kim A. Wilcox, will address participants.
