Ride With Larry Screening to be Held at UCR Palm Desert Center

Free showing will be followed by Q&A with co-director Ricardo Villarreal

The documentary “Ride With Larry” will be shown at the UCR Palm Desert Center on Saturday, June 13, 2015.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A documentary about a man living with Parkinson’s Disease attempting a 300-mile bike ride across South Dakota will be shown at the UCR Palm Desert Center on Saturday, June 13, 2015. The screening of “Ride with Larry” will be followed by a Q&A session with the film’s co-director Ricardo Villarreal.

The screening, which is co-sponsored by Cinema Culturas and the UC Riverside School of Medicine Center for Healthy Communities, is free and open to the public. The evening’s events begin at 5:15 p.m. with a reception, with the screening beginning at 6 p.m. Individuals interested in attending are asked to RSVP online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/RWLatUCRPDC.

“Ride with Larry” tells the story of Larry Smith, who has battled Parkinson’s Disease for two decades. The film chronicles his medical journey with conventional treatments, exercise and medical marijuana. As Smith continues to battle the illness, he attempts a 300-mile bike ride across South Dakota, described as a “journey of hope” for those facing a life altering illness.

The film has been honored with the Jury Award for Inspiration at the South Dakota Film Festival and the Audience Award for Feature Film and Most Inspirational Film Award at the Orlando Film Festival

The UCR Palm Desert Center Auditorium is located at 75080 Frank Sinatra Dr. in Palm Desert.
