Incredible Bulk Trash Event set for June 20

UCR to host annual trash collection event

Incredible Bulk Event

The Incredible Bulk Event is set for Saturday, June 20.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — It started as a suggestion from a neighbor, and now it’s a yearly event on the UC Riverside campus — the Incredible Bulk Trash Event. Riverside residents and UCR students, faculty, and staff members are invited to the ninth annual event on Saturday, June 20, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lot 24. The drop-off allows local residents and the campus community to dispose of unwanted household products.

Participants can bring by unwanted bulky items, including furniture, refrigerators, mattresses and electronics at no cost. Household hazardous waste, such as antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint will not be accepted. The event is sponsored by the city of Riverside Public Works Department, and the university.

“Now in its ninth year, well over 100 tons have been collected, sorted, recycled and most importantly, kept out of street corners and vacant lots,” said Jeff Kraus, director of local government and community relations.

Kraus said the event is timed to coincide with the end of the school year and when many students move out of their apartments and houses. Participation is limited to city of Riverside residents and the UCR community. Those dropping off items must show proof of residency or campus affiliation. Lot 24 is located on Canyon Crest Drive, between University and Linden avenues. For more information, call (951) 827-7073.
