Ken Baerenklau Named Associate Provost

New post is just one of many he's held over 14 years at UCR

Ken Baerenklau is UCR’s Associate Dean.

Ken Baerenklau, associate professor of environmental economics and policy, has been named Associate Provost at UCR. His appointment was announced on Sept. 1 by Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Paul J. D’Anieri.

Baerenklau joined the UCR faculty in 2002 and he was also an adjunct fellow in the Water Policy Center of the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC).

“Ken brings an exceptional set of skills, acquired through a variety of roles over 14 years at UCR,” said D’Anieri. “He oversaw Graduate Academic Affairs as Associate Dean of the Graduate Division. He has served extensively in the UCR Academic Senate, as chair of the Committee on Educational Policy and as a member of the Senate Executive Committee. As Associate Provost, Baerenklau will support the Provost/EVC in implementing the UCR strategic plan. In the coming months, he will focus on coordinating the implementation of UCR’s faculty hiring initiative.
