Yes Men Coming to UC Riverside

Free public screening of the film “The Yes Men Are Revolting” set for Oct. 6

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) – Sponsored by the Office of Sustainability, the University of California, Riverside will host a free screening of the documentary “The Yes Men Are Revolting” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6  in ARTS 335.

Following the screening, there will be a discussion and Q&A opportunity with the activist duo, Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno.

film screeningBichlbaum and Bonanno raise awareness about what they consider problematic social issues by impersonating big corporations and corrupt leaders who put profits ahead of everything else. The duo work to expose abuses of the environment and human rights and draw media attention to crucial issues.

Over the last few years, The Yes Men have shared what they have learned from their last decade or so of doing “identity correction.” The result is The Yes Lab, a workshop to help activist groups carry out media-getting creative actions on their own.

UCR students can participate in a workshop for environmental activism the following day, from noon to 2 p.m. on campus. Interested students can apply with an email to sustain@ucr.edu.
