The inland area’s largest plant sale is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. You can find a list of available plants and a wildflower seed coupon on the website too, along with a short schedule of activities.

Homecoming is happening Nov. 14

UCR has lots of events scheduled for the 2015 Homecoming Parent and Family Day on Nov. 14.

UCR is Competing in a Systemwide UC Competition

UCR is participating in the Cool Campus Challenge, a UC event to get the word about UC President Janet Napolitano’s carbon neutrality initiative.

The challenge is a friendly competition to motivate and reward staff, faculty and students for reducing their carbon footprint in support of the UC system reach its Carbon Neutrality goals – as well as create a culture of sustainability across campus.

Participants will engage as individuals or teams, make pledges to participate in activities that reduce energy use, and earn prizes. Over the course of the campaign, different themes will be highlighted weekly and pushed through social media, email and other channels.

Leading Entrepreneur to Speak on Campus

UCR School of Business Administration will continue its Dean’s Speaker Series at 10:30 a.m. on Oct 21 with a talk by Bob Stapleton, an alumnus who is an entrepreneur and general manager.

Bob Stapleton co-founded two highly successful public companies, Western Wireless Corporation and VoiceStream Wireless (now T-Mobile). Both companies were subsequently acquired for a total value in excess of $30 billion. Stapleton is an entrepreneur and general manager with 25 years of experience in building high-
performance organizations. He is a management adviser and investor in portfolio companies of leading private equity firms.

The talk will take place at the UCR Alumni Visitor Center and is free and open to the public.

The Dean’s Speaker Series brings successful leaders in the business community to share their expertise. Designed to foster critical discussions about business issues, it also provides networking opportunities between corporate executives and SoBA students.
