Entrepreneur, Former Bicycle Team Owner to Speak on Campus

UC RIverside alumnus Bob Stapleton will speak on campus Oct. 21.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — The University of California, Riverside School of Business Administration will continue its Dean’s Speaker Series at 10:30 a.m. Oct 21 with a talk by an alumnus who is an entrepreneur and general manager.

Bob Stapleton co-founded two public companies, Western Wireless Corporation and VoiceStream Wireless (now T-Mobile). Both companies were subsequently acquired for a total value of more than $30 billion. In 2005, he founded High Road Sports Inc., a sports management company that owned and operated Team HTC-Highroad, a professional cycling team.

The talk, “Building Your Career by Building Yourself,” will take place at UC Riverside’s Alumni Visitor Center. It is free and open to the public.

Stapleton is an entrepreneur and general manager with 25 years of experience in building organizations. He is a management adviser and investor in portfolio companies of leading private equity firms.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and M.B.A. from UC Riverside’s School of Business Administration.

The Dean’s Speaker Series brings successful leaders in the business community to share their expertise. Designed to foster critical discussions about business issues, it also provides networking opportunities between corporate executives and business students. Dean’s speakers have achieved national and international prominence in their respective fields and represent a diversity of cultural, political and economic perspectives.
