Wine and Food Tasting Event Returns to Gardens

The 18th annual Primavera in the Gardens fundraiser will benefit UCR Botanic Gardens' education program for school children

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The Friends of the UC Riverside Botanic Gardens will host the 18th Annual Primavera in the Gardens wine and food tasting fundraising event on Sunday, May 15th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the UC Riverside Botanic Gardens.

Guests will be able to stroll through the scenic garden paths, enjoy appetizers, drink locally-brewed beer and wine and listen to live music. Proceeds from the event benefit the Botanic Gardens’ program that hosts thousands of touring school children each year.

Appetizers will be provided by restaurants and caterers, including: Migliore Gourmet Foods, Pepitos Mexican Restaurant, Mario’s Place, Cafe Sevilla, Jammin’ Bread, Edible Arrangements, GraPow, La Chat Noir, The Salted Pig, LBistro/Just Pastries, Marisa’s Italian Deli, Habanero Mexican Grill, Honey Baked Ham Company, ProAbition – Whiskey Lounge & Kitchen, Gandhi Indian Cuisine and UC Riverside Citrus Grove Catering.

Wine and beer will be offered by regional vineyards and wineries including Brutacao Cellars, Callaway Vineyard & Winery, Dark Star Cellars, Falkner Winery, Galleano Winery, Hart Family Winery, Justin Vineyards & Winery, Maurice Car’rie Winery, Oak Mountain Winery, Via One Hope Winery, Roadrunner Ridge Winery, Inland Empire Brewing Company, Euryale Brewing Company, Wicks Brewing Co., Heroes Restaurant & Brewery and Packinghouse Brewing Company.

In addition, there will be a silent auction and live entertainment by Bob Scarano, Melville Street and the Salty Raisins.

Nearly 500 people attended in 2015 with a full house expected once again for this year’s event. Tickets to this fundraiser are $75 per person if purchased in advance and $85 at the gate. Tickets can also be purchased by credit card at

Parking for the event is $5. A trolley, which will shuttle guests to and from the garden entrance, will be available and free to use.

The Botanic Gardens cover nearly 40 acres and feature more than 3,000 plant species from around the world. Every year, some 50,000 visitors, including school children, enjoy our beautiful vistas and numerous scenic pathways, some gently graded for wheelchair access.
