RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — Christopher Thornberg, director of the School of Business Administration Center for Economic Forecasting and Development at the University of California, Riverside will be a keynote speaker at the 2016 Southwest Regional Economic Forecast, set for Wednesday, June 8 at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula.

The event is presented by the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Southwest California Economic Development Coalition, and the Center for Economic Forecasting and Development at UCR. As the only public research university in the region, UCR is committed to contributing its research expertise to solve problems and improve the quality of life in its surrounding communities.

With a focus on the five-city region of Southwest Riverside County comprising Temecula, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Murrieta and Wildomar, the event is geared toward community members interested in commercial and residential real estate markets, employment and unemployment, consumer spending, business activities, and international trade and GDP growth. The speakers include Thornberg; Chase Untermeyer, former U.S. Ambassador to Qatar and an international business consultant; and five local city managers.

Thornberg said the forecast event comes at a time of opportunity for Southwest Riverside County.

“From home prices to job growth to industry trends, there is a lot to talk about in this region’s local economy. Things have changed markedly since the recession and the area is becoming an increasingly important part of the state’s overall economy,” he said.

The June 8 event will be from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Pechanga Resort and Casino, 45000 Pechanga Parkway, Temecula, 92592. Reservations are $40 per attendee and $500 for a table of 10 guests. Media are invited to cover the event.
