UCR Extension Summer STEM Program Comes to UCR Palm Desert

Students in grades 3-6 will immerse themselves in hands-on activities and experiments in STEM topics

CBS interviews two instructors for UCR Extension’s STEM Academy in the desert.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) – For the first time since its inception, the UCR Extension Expanding Horizons summer program is broadening its reach to the desert community, and hosting its one-week STEM Discovery Academy at UCR Palm Desert from June 27 through July 1.

Students in grades 3 through 6 will participate in fun and engaging activities that focus on electricity, technology, computer programming, geometry and architecture. This is not a sit and listen kind of program. Sessions are hands-on, allowing students to be fully immersed in the process and learn by doing.

Cost is $245 for the entire week.

Palm Desert’s local news station recently featured a story in their Eye on the Desert segment, where they interviewed two of the instructors for the upcoming STEM Academy. See it here:
