The School of Business Administration (SOBA) has added one new faculty member.

Subramanian “Bala” Balachander is a professor of Marketing and appointed the Albert O. Steffey chair in marketing. Previously, he was a professor of management at Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management. He has a Ph.D. in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University, an MBA from IIM, Calcutta, and a B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from IIT, Madras.

His research studies competitive marketing strategy, pricing, bundling, sales promotions and market signaling, and uses methods of game theory and structural econometric models. Balachander serves on the editorial board of the journal Marketing Science and is a senior editor of Production and Operations Management.

In 2012 he was ranked No. 16 among the world’s top innovation management scholars based on articles published in the top marketing journals.
