Shanghai Global Rankings Place Three BCOE Majors in Top 50; Two in Top 75

Shanghai Rankings’ 2016 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects

ShanghaiRanking has released its 2016 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, comparing 1,200 universities and publishing the best 500. Three of BCOE’s majors were ranked in the top 50 in the world while two others were ranked in the top 75 for their respective disciplines:

–          Environmental Science & Engineering  ranked 23rd in the United States and 38th in the world

–          Electrical and Electronic Engineering ranked 24th in the United States and 43rd in the world

–          Chemical Engineering ranked 18th in the United States and 45th in the world

–          Materials Science and Engineering ranked 23rd in the United States and in the top 75 in the world

–          Mechanical Engineering ranked 29th in the United States and in the top 75 in the world

To be included in a subject ranking, universities were required to have a minimum number of research publications. For engineering subjects, the scholarly output requirement was 200 papers during the past five years. ShanghaiRanking considers factors such as quality of education, quality of faculty, research output and per capita performance.
