RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — Several storms are expected to hit California in the coming week. Richard Minnich, an earth sciences professor at the University of California, Riverside, is available for interviews about the storms.

Here are his initial thoughts:

“The next week or so is going to be pretty wild,” Minnich said. “Believe me this is going to end the drought.”

Minnich predicts that the barrage of storms will continue through early March and that there is a danger of flooding throughout the state in the coming months.

Beyond that, he predicted a severe fire season, with the “pretty green grass turning into a big fire hazard this summer.”

Minnich can be reached at 951-827-5515.
