Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts 20th Anniversary Gala

UC Riverside arts outreach program celebrates 20 years

Celebrate Gluck’s 20th anniversary by attending the gala on April 6.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) – The Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts at the University of California, Riverside is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a gala on Thursday, April 6. A partnership between UCR students and the Riverside community, the program’s goal is to teach and perform the arts for free to areas in need.

“The Gluck Program at UCR has, since 1996, sent more than 2,000 UCR Gluck Fellows into the greater Riverside community to offer art, music, dance, writing and theatre workshops,” said Christine Leapman, the assistant director of the program. “Over the years, we have provided more than 10,000 hours of program to at least 500,000 people. Gluck Fellows have been inspiring ‘Riversiders’ for a generation.”

The Gluck Program allows community members who might not otherwise have access to arts activities, to experience visual arts, art history, music, dance, and writing through UCR students’ classroom visits. The Gluck Fellows Program also facilitates visits to the UCR campus for events that give school children the opportunity to “feel at home” on campus and be inspired to pursue a college education and a lifetime in the arts.

Each year, the Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts provides fellowships to exceptional UCR undergraduate and graduate students to conduct arts-related presentations, performances, and workshops in Riverside County schools, residential facilities for elderly care, museums, libraries, and community centers. All events sponsored by the Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts at UC Riverside are made possible through the generosity of the Max H. Gluck Foundation.

The 20th anniversary gala is free and open to the public. All-ages are welcome to partake in celebrating Gluck’s arts outreach in the Inland Empire. The event will feature live music and dance performances, art-making, film screening, and roving street theatre performances. It will be held during the First Thursday ArtsWalk at the UCR Culver Center of the Arts at 3824 Main St., Riverside 92501 from 6 to 9 p.m. There is free parking in Downtown Riverside after 6 p.m.
