IEEE Chapter Wins Outstanding Large Student Branch Award

The Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) Student Branch at UC Riverside received the 2016 Outstanding Large Student Branch from IEEE Region 6.

IEEE Region 6 encompasses the entire western region of the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, and has more than 35 sections and two sub sections. The award for “Outstanding Large Student Branch” is given to Student Branches with “26 or more active members” and nominations are judged based on “the number of meetings and activities, the number of students actively participating, the success in carrying out the objectives of the IEEE, [and] innovations and creativity of their projects.”

The IEEE chapter is one of 24 professional organizations available to engineering students at the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering. The chapter aims to provide engineers with technical, social and professional development in the engineering field. Student members can participate in numerous opportunities including electric cars, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), Micromouse, Robosub, 3D Printing and many other projects and workshops.
