Have you kept up with all the UC Riverside sports news? Athletes from our soccer, baseball, basketball, and track and field, are among some of the students featured by news outlets for their amazing performances.

Since early June, at least three UCR baseball players have been drafted by MLB: UCR pitchers Ryan Lillie, Alex Fagalde, and outfielder Mark Contreras. UCR golf coach Mary Ritchie was named one of the Inland Empire’s top 5 Women’s College coaches.

Science Library Pathway Construction Project

UCR’s Architects & Engineers will be working on a six-week project near the Orbach Science Library. Construction began on June 19. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The project consists of removing, replacing, and modifying the existing concrete path in order to create a code compliant accessible walking path across East Campus Drive. The labor includes adding a new ramp and concrete pathway between the Chemical Sciences building and Orbach Science Library, Physics and the School of Medicine building.

East Campus Drive will remain open for most of the project. A detour route will be provided and published by A&E in the next few weeks.

Incredible Bulk Trash Event set for June 24

The annual UCR Incredible Bulk Trash Event will take place on Saturday, June 24, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in lot 24. The drop-off allows city of Riverside residents, UCR students, faculty and staff to dispose of unwanted household products.

Participants can bring by unwanted bulky items, including furniture, refrigerators, mattresses, and electronics at no cost. Household hazardous waste, such as antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint will not be accepted. The event is sponsored by the city of Riverside Public Works Department, and the university.

Participation is limited to city of Riverside residents and the UCR community. Those dropping off items must show proof of residency or campus affiliation. Lot 24 is located on Canyon Crest Drive, between University and Linden avenues. For more information, call (951) 827-7073.
