The 2017 graduates had many victories to celebrate at UC Riverside.

More than 5,700 students were expected to graduate, and nearly 4,700 students were expected to participate in UCR’s 63rd commencement. Among some of the highlights during this year’s commencements were the School of Medicine, School of Public Policy, as well as African Student Programs and Chicano Student Programs, who each celebrated their 45th year anniversary on campus.

Here is a recap of some of this year’s successes:

First 40 medical students graduate from the UCR School of Medicine. The future doctors were at 100 percent match for residency and are set to begin their careers this summer. Majority of them will  fulfill their residency work in Southern California. Watch the June 9 UCR School of Medicine Commencement and Hippocratic Oath Ceremony video:

The School of Public Policy also held an inaugural ceremony. Twenty-five students were part of the first cohort of the school’s Master’s in Public Policy program. The ceremony was held on June 17. You can also read a feature on the School of Public Policy, published in the UCR Magazine.
