BCOE’s Terri Phonharath Named Academic Advisor of the Year at UCR’s Inaugural Celebration of Teaching Event

BCOE Academic Advisor Terri Phonharath accepts the Academic Advisor of the Year Award for Undergraduate Education.

UC Riverside’s inaugural Celebration of Teaching Event brought together outstanding members of the UCR community to honor their work this academic year. The event combines multiple institutional awards for faculty teaching excellence, recognition of academic advisors, and announces the new inductees to the Academy of Distinguished Teachers. Among the awardees was Terri Phonharath, Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering academic advisor, who was presented with the first-ever Academic Advisor of the Year for Undergraduate Education award for an Experienced Advisor.

Phonharath has worked as an academic advisor at UCR for nearly 10 years. As part of her work to advise and counsel undergraduate students through the enrollment and academic processes, she promotes educational, career and life goals while supporting student retention, timeliness to degree, academic success, and intellectual and personal development.

The event was envisioned by UCR Interim Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Cynthia Larive to become an annual tradition at UCR to celebrate one of the three primary areas of faculty work: service, research and teaching. Click here to view a complete list of award recipients.
