RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Could you benefit from upgrading your digital design skills? Many jobs increasingly require more digital creativity than ever before and you may be looking for a way to add these skills to your tool box. Or you may be interested in pursing a career as a digital designer. Our new creative workshop could be just the answer.

UCR Extension’s Introduction to Digital Arts and Graphic Design Workshop helps you get a solid footing in the fundamentals of design production.

Get a solid footing in the fundamentals of design production in UCR Extension’s new creative workshop, “Introduction to Digital Arts and Graphic Design.” This 5-week workshop, offered both in Riverside and Palm Desert this fall, offers an introduction to the use of the Adobe Creative Software Suite, and helps students gain an understanding of graphic design. The program, delivered in a hybrid format, combines online instruction with three face-to-face Saturday meetings, and provides a solid foundation in the basics of digital arts and graphic design.

Lead instructor John Lane has worked with UCR Extension since 2009, and developed this program especially for the new designer. “I am excited to be part of the team teaching this new creative workshop where entry-level artists can learn the fundamentals of the design production processes and be introduced to the use of the Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat. Also, this hands-on workshop provides the direct experience of working as a graphics professional. Completing this introductory workshop prepares students to succeed in the next step:  the 150-hour, three-month Digital Arts and Design Academy, coming in winter 2018.”

John Lane will conduct FREE Information Sessions via Live Webcast at the UCR Extension Center on Saturday, August 12, from 10-11 a.m., or at UCR Palm Desert on Saturday, October 7, from 10-11 a.m.

Workshops run September 23-October 28 at UCR Extension Center and online and November 4-December 9 at UCR Palm Desert Center and online.
