Fall Plant Sale Set for Oct. 21 and 22

Thousands of plants will be offered at the Botanic Gardens’ Fall Garden Market and Plant Sale.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — The 35th annual UC Riverside Botanic Gardens Fall Garden Market and Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A members-only sale for Friends of the Botanic Gardens will be Saturday, Oct. 21, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Thousands of plants will be offered for sale, including many rare and unusual varieties as well as old favorites. Choices include colorful, heat-loving trees and shrubs; flowering perennials; cacti and other succulents; orchids; plants that attract hummingbirds or butterflies; drought-tolerant plants; California native plants; and water plants. There will also be a large selection of Master Gardener-grown vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

The event will include local vendors to enhance the selection of plants that are grown at the Botanic Gardens. Vendors include Paradise Garden Center, Australian Outback Plants, Blossoms of Aloha, High Noon Creations, Stumps & Trunks, Resendiz Brothers Protea Growers, Orchids by Zeny, and Wild Birds Unlimited.

UC master gardeners, as well as Botanic Gardens staff and volunteers, will be on hand to answer questions. Free educational programs will be presented during the sale days. Parking and entry to the gardens are free for this event.
