UCR Health has created a primary care network to offer health services to staff and faculty with UC Care insurance. ucr

Employees with UC Care insurance can now choose to be seen by UC Riverside’s team of medical doctors.

UCR Health, the clinical arm of UCR’s School of Medicine, has created a primary care network to offer health services to staff and faculty with UC Care insurance.

“UCR Health is building our primary care network so that we can provide patient-centered primary care for UCR faculty and staff, as well as the entire Inland Southern California community,” said Dr. Michael Nduati, UCR Health’s chief executive officer.

UCR Health helps address the physician shortage in the Inland Empire, Nduati said.

Most of the doctors are also faculty members at the School of Medicine, which is a win-win because the credibility and the dedication to the community already exists, said Leanne Spaide, director of marketing and communications for UCR Health.

Currently, UCR Health is negotiating to become a provider for HealthNet Blue and Gold, said Spaide, noting the division has been practicing family medicine in the Coachella Valley for a couple of years already. In fact, UCR Health has four clinics in the Inland Empire:

  • UCR Health Multispecialty Practice, 3390 University Ave., Suite 100 in Riverside. This clinic offers neurology, obstetrics & gynecology; pain medicine; primary care; sports medicine
  • UCR Health Psychiatry, 3390 University Ave., Suite 115 in Riverside. This clinic offers clinical neuropsychology; psychiatry
  • UCR Women’s Health, Silver Oak 19330 Jesse Lane, Suite 100 in Riverside. This clinic offers gynecologic oncology; obstetrics & gynecology; urogynecology
  • UCR Health Neurosciences, 4510 Brockton Ave., Suite 365 in Riverside. This clinic offers neurosurgery

“We are also exploring clinical and translational research to have our physicians work closely with our already historically strong biomedical science Ph.D. researchers. We are excited to be building this clinical platform to serve both the school and the community,” Nduati said.
