Spend a Day with Friends and Family at Homecoming 2017

Nov. 18 is filled with events, tours, and activities for young and old

UC Riverside’s campus departments and organizations are ready to welcome visitors to this year’s Homecoming celebrations on Nov. 18.

The day’s highlights include the men’s basketball game against Portland State at 4 p.m. and the UCR’s women’s volleyball team taking on UC Santa Barbara at 7:30 p.m. Both games will take place at the Student Recreation Center Arena.

“All alumni, family members, and the Riverside community at large are invited to cheer on the Highlanders while reconnecting with the many people that make UC Riverside such a special university,” said Tamica Smith Jones, UCR’s director of athletics.

Visitors can also enjoy a full day of activities, beginning with a parent and family meeting at Highlander Union Building (HUB) 302. The 10th annual Scot Fest, which will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. by the bell tower, features free games for the whole family, interactive college booths, music, and more.

Besides touring the campus — everything from housing, the Botanic Gardens or science labs — guests can also enjoy meals at campus restaurants or try out new cuisine during the Food Truck Festival.

“Homecoming is a great opportunity for families to come to campus and show their UCR spirit,” said Kristin Ann Seiler, director of philanthropy and alumni engagement. “We will have numerous tours, back to class sessions where participants can learn about research at UCR, interactive booths like the Entomology Bug Petting Zoo, and tons of prizes to win at Scot Fest. Alumni, faculty, staff, and community members are all welcome to attend.”

Alumni are also encouraged to participate in the annual reunions:
