Deadlines for Students and Faculty Participating in Commencement 2012 Approaching in May

The month of May has several important events and deadlines for students, faculty and staff who plan to participate in commencement

Commencement 2013 is scheduled for June 14-17.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (www.ucr.edu) — Commencement 2012 is scheduled for June 15-18 on the Pierce Lawn near the Carillon Tower. More than 3,000 students and 30,000 family and friends are expected to participate in seven ceremonies. The full schedule of commencement ceremonies may be found at commencement.ucr.edu/schedule.html.

The month of May has several important events and deadlines for students, faculty and staff who plan to participate in commencement.

Faculty members planning on participating in commencement must order their complimentary rental regalia by 5 p.m. on May 18. Due to budget constraints, individual hoods and gowns will no longer be provided and all rental hoods will be University of California hoods. Registration may be done online by visiting commencement.ucr.edu/faculty.html. Faculty members may also purchase a custom hood or full set of regalia through the UCR Campus Store. Purchases must be made no later than May 4. Contact Bob Getman at the UCR Campus Store at (951) 827-4446 for more information.

The Office of Event Management and Protocol is seeking staff, faculty and student volunteers for each of the seven ceremonies. Positions include candidate line-up and procession, faculty and official party line-up, host & guest services and program booth. For students participating in commencement, the annual Grad Fair will be held on May 8-10 in Highlander Union Building room 302. Billed as the one-stop shop for all commencement needs, it is the last chance for students to confirm participation in commencement and is the best place to pick-up commencement tickets. Graduates can also purchase their caps, gowns and tassels, join the UCR Alumni Association, and purchase other commencement-related items.

Grad Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 8 and May 10, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 9. For more information, visit www.alumni.ucr.edu/gradfair.
