As it celebrates the 50th anniversary of its founding, the award recognizes the top 50 individuals who have made an impact on the mission of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation to advance cures and to help improve the quality of life for children and adults with Inflammatory Bowel Disease in the Greater San Diego and Desert Area.

“I have been very fortunate to have benefited from career support by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, and have been delighted to contribute to its mission by explaining to patients, family members, and donors how their fundraising dollars go to improve research and therapeutic approaches in treating inflammatory bowel disease,” McCole said. “The opportunity to interact with many patients and their family members in the San Diego and Desert Area Chapter provides inspiration to my lab to keep persisting with research even when we have setbacks.”
